Tooth Veneering Course
This course covers the use of laboratory-fabricated porcelain and chair-side composite veneers, from treatment planning to placement. The essentials of treatment planning, tooth preparation, temporisation and cementation will be explained in detail. Students will learn the importance of patient selection and the indications for prep or no-prep techniques. The importance of determining the emergence profile and tissue biotypes during treatment planning stages of a veneer case will be explained.
Students will receive training on shade taking, tooth preparation, cord packing, impression techniques, making temporaries and veneer try-in and placement. Throughout the course students will receive technique tips on etching, placement and seating and initial curing with advice on removing excess resin cement. In addition the course covers cementation stages, choosing medium-value (zero-shade) translucent cement, dentin or enamel adhesive bonding considerations. Silane placement will also be covered.
The advantages and disadvantages of the various techniques and long term patient maintenance will be covered emphasising the importance of keeping the supra-gingival margins of no-prep veneers clean. Advanced techniques for treating a gummy smile, removal of osseous tissue, use of a lab-fabricated stent, incisal edge lengthening and biological width considerations are introduced.
